Welcome

Thank you for visiting. This site is primarily to showcase my poetry. Each month I will post at least one poem here.

Latest News: I’m appearing with Jerry Dowlen at the Orpington Literary Festival (in Kent, England) to discuss his latest book ‘Curiosities of Orpington’.

The event takes place on Wednesday 15 May, 11am until noon, at the Orpington Library (off the High Street). Entry is free.

If you can’t make it but would like to purchase a copy at £5 plus post and packing visit:

About

I’ve spent much of my career working in publicity, customer communications and marketing, across the public and private sectors.

Now semi-retired I spend my time following Cray Wanderers FC, the NFL and Motorsport, when I’m not writing that is.

Poetry

My passion for writing poetry began while a teenager. I also dabbled in playwriting but poetry was my preferred creative outlet.

Much of my early work I considered more akin to William McGonagall than William Wordsworth. However over time I honed my craft until I felt confident enough to let my creative fledglings fly the nest.

Between 1978 and 2013 I published four pamphlets (now called called chapbooks) of my poetry.

P

Then in 2023 I published my first book of poetry let sleeping dogs stand. The poems have at their centre topical issues which don’t always make for easy reading.

My poems have also appeared in a range of anthologies and online magazines published in the UK and abroad.

I’ve recited my poems at many events over the years; the first being back in 1978 at the Conway Hall in London.

PROSE

My prose has appeared in many print and online publications, including newspapers and magazines distributed across the UK and Europe.

I’ve also edited lifestyle and corporate journals with a local, national and international readership.

In 2013 I co-authored Dove On The Wing, a book which looks at the life of English poet and pacifist Donald Ward.

Written with fellow poet Jerry Dowlen, its publication coincided with the 10th anniversary of Donald’s death.

IN THE PIPELINE

I also have several writing projects in the pipeline. These include a TV script; a novel based on George Orwell’s 1984; a children’s story; and a collection of essays. I’ll post updates when there is more to say.
